This is an exciting time to lead a team that is continuing to grow with our first therapeutic children's home - Pen Y Lan.

Pen-Y-Lan is based in the seaside town of Minehead, Somerset, within walking distance of the beach and has great local amenities. We offer a therapeutic and nurturing residential home for young people who may have mental health problems and/or complex needs. The team has specialist expertise and skills in working with young people who have mental health difficulties, including those who present with an emerging or diagnosed Emotionally Unstable (Borderline) Personality Disorder, Depressive Disorders and Attachment Disorders.

The Directors are trained Psychiatric Nurses with additional training in psychological therapy and take a lead in ensuring all young people within our care receive appropriate assessments and interventions in relation to any mental health difficulties. The team has access to additional specialist clinicians, including a Clinical Psychologist, Community Artist and Theatre Practitioner and an Art Therapist.

We need an innovative, motivated and experienced Registered Manager, who can lead the team in achieving the best possible outcomes for the young people in our care, whilst adhering to all policies and procedures and external regulations. This will be a challenging yet rewarding role where you will need to work under pressure and develop great relationships. Candidates will need to have the following:-

• At least two years experience of managing a children's home

• MUST have a Social Work degree or QCF Level 4-5 Leadership and management

• Established record of consistently achieving good or outstanding ratings from Ofsted

• Must have sound knowledge and understanding of current regulations and quality standards.

• Excellent presentation and communication skills.

• Committed to working with children and young people with complex and challenging needs

Manager required for Children’s Residential Care

 

We are looking for a dynamic manager to take over the running of a successful residential children’s home with a good Ofsted rating. The home is for boys ages 10-18yrs, with challenging behaviour, ADHD, SEN and Autism.

We specialise in providing a safe, secure learning environment for young people and adults with special needs and challenging behaviour. We have two amazing residential homes for young people, an adult CQC home, and one very unique, approved, independent special school for 16 pupils aged 7 to 25. Care and School work in unison, to provide positive outcomes which enable young people to function successfully in the community.

Our company was formed in 2004 by a small group of individuals with a vast and diverse experience of working with vulnerable young people with challenging behaviour and communication difficulties including ASD. As our company has grown, we have ensured that any growth in services has not been at the expense of the quality of our provisions, with each additional development enhancing our services. Quality is paramount to us!

Qualifications accepted, HSE Level 5 Diploma in leadership in Health & Social Care Children and Young People, Level 4 MRCC (Managers in Residential Child Care), Level 4 RMA (Residential Manager’s Award in Childcare), or Level 4 Leadership and Management and care for children and young people combined.

The salary is calculated on 175 hours per month, flexibly worked to ensure good management of the home, support of staff and care of the young people.

On call support is required to be provided on an ABC rota system, where one weekend in 3 will be the manager’s responsibility. Weekend on-call managers are supported by an experienced carer or on call senior and available as first cover for any sickness across the two homes.

The manager will be responsible for taking calls, managing emergencies, guidance and decision-making. Some office hours may be worked evenings or during on-call weekends, this is encouraged and enables monitoring of the homes day-to-day running.

Full driving licence required. Please note that to ensure safeguarding you will have to have an enhanced DBS check.

Job Role:
